Yesterday I received notice that my new RED Scarlet film camera is allocated. That doesn't mean I will get it soon: it means that a certain production unit has my name on it. It stills needs to be build, tested, paid for, shipped, accessorized etc. before I can start filming with this beauty. As far as I know it will be one of the first units in the Netherlands.

The RED Scarlet is a digital cinema camera aimed at the professional filmmaker. It records in 4K resolution to RAW files. With an incredible high quality sensor this camera is able to produce stunning pictures.

I will keep you posted on the progress!

Enkele weken geleden heb ik een nieuwe film camera besteld: de Red Scarlet. Ik verwacht dat deze binnenkort geleverd gaat worden. De Red Scarlet is een gloednieuwe en uiterst innovatieve camera. Het gaat er hopelijk voor zorgen dat ik nog mooiere films kan gaan maken. Want dat is het doel!

As a video maker, you use a lot of batteries. It is unavoidable with this job: many small electronic devices, camera's, receivers, recorders, transmitters etc. They all need a form of electric power (read batteries) to function.

To reduce the amount of batteries that are thrown away or need to be recycled, I changed to rechargeable. From now on all batteries and accus used are rechargeable and environmentally friendly.

Impressive. Look at this 1.5 Kg heavy piece of glass. Arrived yesterday as part of my new film camera equipment. It has the size, feel and weight of a weapon! But it is a 'standard' wide angle zoom.

I'm currently waiting for the delivery of my new RED Scarlet Cinema camera. So every morning I'm waiting anxiously for the mailman.

Only hours left until the important announcements from both Canon and RED about their long anticipated new digital film cameras. Udate: cameras are released and specs added

These are rumoured to be true digital film cameras. They will have large sensors. Large sensors are not only the latest fashion but also a must-have for serious film makers. It allows shallow depth-of-field, higher light sensivity and lower noise. Coupled with interchangeable lenses, 4K, intraframe or raw-codec, professional features and you know these are some serious machines. Not really suited for your average holiday video.
